A musical process is akin to a visual process, both are very similar for me in how I perceive time and space, but it is the influence of listening in music that often is the framework or perception of sound in my work

As a musician, Ben works with open reel tape, cassettes, field recordings and magnetic objects. This formed out of his interest in the pre-recorded sound as a live process in music. From preparations including magnets, motors, and pins amongst others, he has been developing a sound palette that explores time, space, texture, tonality, harmonics and decay in both improvisations and compositions.

Current collaborations include duos with Helmut Lemke (tapes & longstrings, DE/UK), Lee Patterson (amplified objects, UK), Hainer Woermann (amplified cardboard, DE), Michael Vorfeld (lightbulbs, DE), and Jason Zeh (tape treatments USA).
